My husband and I are the proud parents of three amazing
children. The story of how
Audrey came to be our child is one that we enjoy telling over and over
again. While our hearts have been open to adopting a “special needs”
child for a while, we prayed that God would lead us to the right child. Audrey was born with bilateral club feet and had no
correction available to her. Club feet is a common birth defect that is
easily corrected by serial casting shortly after birth. Without correction,
many born with club feet will never walk.
While Audrey was no longer an “infant”, through the help of
the amazing doctors and nurses at our
local children’s hospital and prayers from many, her feet were
successfully corrected! Today, she smiles, laughs, has many friends and melts the
hearts of all who meet her. When I look at Audrey, I don't think about her feet. And when people comment that we are doing God's work to take in a special child, I know in my heart that adopting Audrey was not our gift to God, but rather His gift to us. Her presence in our lives is a blessing and a daily miracle.
